Coup de Main

Coup de Main Community Guidelines

On Coup de Main, people open their door to someone they don't know yet, sometimes to look after their children. These guidelines help everyone feel safe and respected. They are part of the Terms of Service and apply everywhere: profiles, jobs, messages, calls, videos, reviews and meetings arranged through the Platform.

1. Be yourself

  • Use your real name and recent photos of you alone.
  • Describe your experience, skills, licences and insurance honestly.
  • One person, one account. Don't lend your account or speak for someone else (except as a business team member).
  • Never alter a document or claim a badge you don't have.

2. Respect everyone

  • No harassment, threats, intimidation or hate speech.
  • No discrimination based on ethnic or national origin, colour, religion, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, pregnancy, civil status, language, social condition or any other ground protected by Quebec's Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms. Your choices must be based on the work.
  • No sexual advances or sexual content. The Platform is for finding help, not dates.
  • Respect a "no" or silence. If someone ends a match or blocks you, don't try to reach them another way.

3. Protect privacy

  • Don't record calls or meetings without the other person's agreement, and don't screenshot videos to share them.
  • Don't post another person's contact details, address, photos or videos.
  • Don't film children, and don't show anything that could identify a home (door number, street view, mail).
  • Keep to yourself what you learn in a client's home or about a worker.

4. Keep the Platform safe

  • Meet only after talking in the app. For a first meeting, read our safety tips and use "Share my booking" with someone you trust.
  • Stay in the app's chat until the work is done.
  • Never ask for a deposit or payment before meeting, and never by gift card, transfer to a stranger or cryptocurrency.
  • Regulated work (electrical, plumbing, gas, etc.) requires the proper licence.
  • Follow the law: no illegal activity, no weapons, no drugs at work, no working under the influence of alcohol or drugs, especially around children.
  • No spam, phishing, pyramid schemes or mass recruiting for another platform.

5. Honest reviews

  • Review only a real experience, after a completed booking.
  • No reviews in exchange for a benefit, no threats of a bad review, no fake accounts to review yourself.
  • Stick to the facts: describe what happened, without insults or personal information.

6. Videos

  • Answer the question asked, with appropriate clothing and background.
  • No one but you in the frame, especially not children.
  • No violent, sexual, hateful or misleading content.

7. Report a problem

Use the "⋯" menu on a card, profile, message, video or review, then Report. You can also block the person. Urgent reports are handled first by a person on our team.

In immediate danger, call 911.

8. What happens when guidelines are broken

Automated tools help us flag some content, but every decision is made by a person. Depending on severity and history, we may:

  1. give a warning;
  2. remove content or a badge;
  3. limit some features;
  4. suspend the account temporarily;
  5. close the account permanently and refuse re-registration. To prevent a return, we keep the related safety records for 3 years after a ban (see the Privacy Policy).

Behaviour that puts someone in danger (violence, exploitation, harm to a child, serious threats) leads to immediate account closure and, where needed, a report to the authorities. You'll be told about the action and can ask for another member of our team to review it.
